Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, and with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergency situations, International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.
ROLE SUMMARY
The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Volunteer will support the implementation of MHPSS activities in the hospital, providing direct emotional and psychosocial support to patients and their families. The volunteer will be present in hospital waiting areas, triage points, and MHPSS tents to help manage stress and anxiety, as well as assist in the early detection and referral of individuals in need of more specialized MHPSS services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitate awareness sessions focused on stress management and healthy coping strategies.
Disseminate key messages about the availability and accessibility of MHPSS services within the hospital.
Conduct structured group sessions to provide targeted psychosocial support.
Conduct brief, informal sessions on stress reduction and relaxation techniques
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
Graduate or currently a third- or fourth-year student in psychology.
Ideally, experience working or volunteering in the MHPSS sector, particularly in awareness-raising or outreach activities.
Fluent in Arabic, both written and spoken.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team; flexible and able to manage a high-stress workload.
Honest, hardworking, and self-motivated.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in diverse cultural environments.
