Main Purpose
Ensuring good quality medical care to patients admitted to both male, female & paediatric wards of UKMED. Provide clinical “hands-on” care for unwell or severely ill patients; Provide theoretical and clinical trainings on infectious disease, medical management and antibiotics stewardship.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting UKMED protocols. Apply medical knowledge and skills to properly diagnose, prevent and treat patients.
•Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood.
•Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized/IDP patients, through daily visits, consultations and examinations, prescribing the necessary treatment following UKMED protocols, deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments – in collaboration with other doctors - and informing their family about the patient’s evolution.
• Keep the patient and/or family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to be followed.
• Ensure quality of care provided to patients through continuous medical education to the team.
• Participate in weekly multi-disciplinary team meeting and actively contribute to the current plan and management of patient care.
• Provision of support to the emergency department on all medical emergencies and appropriate follow up and referral of emergency cases.
• Take lead on antibiotics stewardship and advice on appropriate use and rationale of antibiotics to avoid anti-microbial resistance.
• Ensure smooth communication with the team, patients and everything revolving around patients’ health needs.
• Monitor proper adherence of prescribed medications by going through the treatment sheets of the patients in the ward.
• Is flexible enough to support other departments/PHC when any patients need arises.
• To support and engage actively on management plan of patients admitted in the HDU.
Requirements
• Vast experience having practised in Internal medicine.
•At least 2-3 years’ experience as a boarded internal medicine physician.
• Active clinical experience and practice.
• Infectious disease background is an added advantage
•Fluency in English and/or Arabic.
FUNCTIONAL RELATIONS
You will work in close collaboration with the TYPE 2 LEAD and MEDCO, other doctors, nurses and staff at the UKMED hospital.
DAY DUTY
The duties run from 8am-3pm since it’s a 24-hour contract.
The responsibilities mentioned above are not exhaustive and other work may be requested depending on the needs of daily work.
The work of UKMED is characterized by great flexibility and mobility. This is all truer as this position can evolve over time and the imperatives of the Clinic. As a result, the employee may be required to perform other duties and other duties on the UKMED project in GAZA.
Any breach is punishable by disciplinary measures.
