JOB SUMMARY
The Doctor, General and Emergency is responsible for providing outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, IMC protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients/beneficiary’s health conditions.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation.

JOB SUMMARY
The Doctor, General and Emergency is responsible for providing outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, IMC protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients/beneficiary’s health conditions.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention. Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting IMC protocols.
- Keep the patient or the first-degree relative care giver informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood.
- Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized/IDP patients, through daily visits, consultations and examinations, prescribing the necessary treatment following IMC protocols, deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments – in collaboration with specialists- and informing about the patient’s evolution.
- Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility. Assure General compliance with standard hygiene standards.
- Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager about any problem or complication of the patient’s illness, medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material.
- Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care.
- Know and ensure all IMC medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are always followed and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control.
- Implement and supervise infection prevention and control measures and adhere to standard precautions and the waste management protocols.
- Ensure professional confidentiality is respected.
- Support ER team in Mass causality under the supervision of the assigned team leader per protocol.
- Participate in training carried out by the medical team members.
- Implement all IMC IPC standards to avoid spread of infections and cross contamination.
- Support IPC team to implement transmission-based precautions procedures in the different wards in the hospital.
- Carry out medical data collection and entry activities into the mission database recording all relevant clinical and demographic data on patients and ensuring data quality/reliability.
- Proper documentation for all patient files.
- Carry out mortality and morbidity meetings review for patients in the department.
- Perform other duties as assigned. The duties and responsibilities listed in this document are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and not necessarily all inclusive.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- A bachelor’s degree of Human Medicine or Medicine and Surgery.
- A minimum of 2 years of previous experience.
- Registered practitioner with a valid and current practicing license.
- Fluency in English and Arabic languages.
- Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
- Previous experience in IMC or other NGO’s is desirable.
