The pharmacist is responsible for ensuring general functioning of the pharmacy supply chain processes in accordance with IMC standards, protocols and procedures, in order to ensure its efficiency and operating availability.

JOB SUMMARY

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Dispense medications to both inpatients and outpatients according to medical prescriptions. Provide patients with detailed information on proper consumption patterns, storage conditions, and potential side effects to support their therapeutic progress.
- Implement clinical management strategies by monitoring patient adherence, therapeutic effectiveness, and potential drug interactions.
- Practice antimicrobial stewardship by ensuring the appropriate use of antibiotics, educating patients on the importance of completing prescribed courses, and promoting strategies to prevent antibiotic resistance.
- Supply the hospital departments with the necessary medical materials and medications to meet their operational needs.
- Coordinate with the medical team to assess and fulfill their requirements for effective operation.
- Inspect and monitor the stocks kept in hospital departments regularly to ensure they are maintained under proper storage conditions.
- Ensure that medical staff are using these materials rationally and in accordance with established protocols to maximize efficacy and minimize waste.
- Monitor storage conditions, stock management, and supply processes, ensuring adherence to hygiene, security protocols, and pest control measures.
- Implement quality control and maintain records to ensure drugs and medical materials are stored under optimal conditions (temperature, humidity, and light exposure) as per IMC protocols and national regulations.
- Make regular inventory, adhering to internationally accepted standards. Implement the First Expire First Out (FEFO) policy and track expiration dates.
- Assist with the delivery, reception, and recording of orders. Update stock files and communicate with the line manager about stock status (shortfalls, over-stocking, expiry dates) to ensure accurate inventory levels and effective stock management.
- Review and manage the ordering of medical and drug materials to ensure appropriate and rational use.
- Monitor consumption patterns to ensure efficient use of resources.
- Accurately record all items received and issued in the consumption management system.
- Report on drug consumption and medical equipment dispensed, identify unusual patterns, and forecast future needs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

- A bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in community and hospital pharmacies.
- Registered practitioner with a valid and current practicing license in Pharmacy.
- Familiarity with Ministry of Health and pharmaceutical policies.
- Knowledge and previous experience working with stock management.
- Excellent writing and reading skills in English.
- Ready to take initiatives with teamwork.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong interpersonal skills and work ethic.
