Nursing Team SupervisorMSF - France Doctors Without Borders
Main purpose of the position
Plan, organize, and evaluate the activities concerning nursing and the team associated, according to MSF values, policies and protocols and universal health standards, in order to warrant the quality and continuity of the health care and the development of the plan of action.
Responsibilities
•Carry out the functions and tasks associated to nursing i.e. perform as a nurse whenever required or needed, in order to optimize the resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience.
•Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures and supervise his/her team follow the same standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her specialty.
•Organize and coordinate the activities of his/her team (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.), evaluate their performance and define and ensure the needs for training of staff, in order to ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality.
•Carry out and/or supervise the (decentralized) pharmacy and medical equipment management (drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs consumption, etc.) in his or her department, in order to satisfy the needs of material with efficiency and effectiveness.
•Ensuring that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensuring that cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols. Reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service.
•Carry-out and/or coordinate administrative (exit-paper, transfer-paper, etc.), information and data collection (patient files, forms, statistics, etc.) tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/ outcome and support decision-taking.
•Give feedback/ reports to medical focal point.
•Supervisors the quality of nursing care within Gaza clinic outreach activity, ensuring MSF/MOH •guidelines and protocols are followed, and maintaining the high standards of care.
•Acts as a focal point within regards to the day to day activities of Gaza Clinic outreach team.
•Perfrom nursing tasks as required as per gaza Clinic Nurse Job description
•Makes sure treatment guidelines are followed and medications and pharmacuiticals consumables are followed closely.
•Receive patient feedback and manage patient concerns or complaints, providing feedback to NAM/MTL/DPC in order to maintain quality of care.
•Ensures a proper patient flow in Gaza Clinic Mobile Team in collaboration with the logistics team and reports any issues to the NAM/MTL/DPC.
•Ensures good communication and collaboration with Gaza Clinic and the Mobile Team nursing team and with other teams working in Gaza Clinic
•Participates in the preparation and implementation of new guidelines and activities for Gaza Clinic Mobile Team.
•Participates to explo activities to define further needs.
•In collaboration with the Medical Liason Officer or the Focal Point for Referrals, ensures that patients fulfilling the criteria, identified during the outreach activity, are timely referred to Gaza Clinic for appropriate treatment, as per the Referral SoP.
Data collection
•Supervisors and supports the registrars in managing the Outreach Activity registers for data collection.
•Participates in weekly and monthly compilation of the clinical statistics, and in the analysis of the data.
•Organises and follows the archiving of the patient files from Gaza Outreach.
Team Leadership & Human Resource Management
•Participates in regular project meetings representing the outreach nursing team and providing the nursing persepctive.
•Plans and leads regular meetings with the Gaza Clinic and the Mobile Team nursing team and gives feedback to the NAM/MTL.
•Makes the duty roster of the staff in the Mobile Team, in agreement with Gaza Clinic NTS, to ensure conunity of care.
•Adapts staff to the activities of the Mobile Team on a daily basis (replaces sick leave, annual leave)
•Evaluates his/her teams members in accordance with their job descriptions through individual reviews and supports team members in reaching professional objectives.
Infection Control & Prevention
•Ensures standard IPC measures are implemented at any outreach location.
•In collaboration with the Logistics and WATSAN teams implements waste management systems in accordance with MSF & MOH protocols.
Learning & Development
•Evaluates his/her team identifying gaps in practice or knowledge and collaborates with the wider team to develop stratgies to over come gaps.
Education
Speciality (nurse or anesthetist) diploma essential.
Experience
Essential 2 years of previous experience. Having worked in MSF or other NGO’s and in developing countries is desirable.
Languages
Mission and local language essential.
