SGBV Advisor
Position Summary:
The SGBV Advisor is a key technical leadership role responsible for ensuring the integration of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) prevention and response across all components of the shelter and protection intervention. This role ensures that program activities are inclusive, survivor-centered, and aligned with international protection standards. The Advisor will support design, training, implementation oversight, and M&E related to SGBV.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership & Integration
- Lead the design and contextualization of SGBV-related content, including awareness materials, referral pathways, and session guides tailored to low-literacy audiences.
- Oversee the integration of SGBV considerations into shelter kits, NFIs, and adaptation plans, including dignity kits and gender-sensitive shelter modifications.
- Provide technical guidance on gender-sensitive shelter adaptations (e.g., privacy, partitions, safe latrines).
- Capacity Building & Training
- Develop and deliver training for Community Relief Committees (CRCs), field staff, engineers, and mobilizers on SGBV principles, prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), and survivor-centered approaches.
- Conduct refresher trainings and provide ongoing technical coaching to ensure quality and adherence to best practices.
- Protection Coordination & Referral Systems
- Establish and maintain confidential, survivor-centered referral pathways in coordination with protection partners and service providers (psychosocial, legal, and medical).
- Ensure protection risk analysis is incorporated into planning, especially for female-headed households, adolescent girls, and persons with disabilities.
- Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
- Review and analyze SGBV-related data from PDM surveys, FGDs, and community feedback to inform adaptive management.
- Contribute to donor reports, assessments, and learning products focused on SGBV outcomes.
- Strategic Advocacy & Representation
- Represent MA’AN in Protection Cluster and GBV Sub-Cluster coordination meetings.
- Participate in inter-agency initiatives, technical working groups, and joint assessments related to SGBV in humanitarian settings.
Qualifications:
- At least bachelor’s degree (master’s degree is preferred) in Gender Studies, Social Work, Human Rights, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in SGBV programming in humanitarian or conflict-affected contexts.
- Demonstrated experience with SGBV case management, protection mainstreaming, and capacity-building.
- Familiarity with IASC GBV Guidelines, Sphere Standards, and Do No Harm principles.
- Strong interpersonal, coordination, and communication skills.
- Fluency in Arabic and Good command of English, both written and spoken, is required.
