MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the ideal candidate:
 Conducts screening for the new entrances regarding Speech and Language problems and evaluations during summer vacation and enter evaluation results into a computer database.
 Conducts speech therapy sessions to the students who are in need of therapy during scholastic year and summer vacation with 7 sessions per day.
 Coordinates their activities with school health teams and Area Education Officers and School Principal.
 Refers the students in need of psychotherapy to Community Mental Health Programme through SCSN Pediatricians.
 Coordinates with families to follow up their children during the period of therapy in order to reach the ultimate goal of speech therapy.
 Prepares plan for treatment for each student and enter all information into a computer database.
 Prepares workshops in schools in coordination with School Principals regarding speech problems, causes of speech problems, and treatment of these problems to educate the public to be familiar with such cases.
 Prepares videos for some cases before and after therapy.
 Refers the cases need surgery or failed cases for Special Children Special Needs Pediatrician who will refer for advanced care.
 Performs such other duties as may be required.
PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
 Diploma or a university degree in Speech Therapy from an institution recognized by UNRWA.
 A valid governmental license to practice speech therapy in the Gaza Field.
 At least two years of satisfactory professional working experience
 Good command of spoken and written English.
 Ability to work under pressure.
 Excellent computer skills.

 Excellent organizational and communication skills.
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
 Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary $ 708.80; plus a currency adjustment factor (present rate 17%).
 Contract Duration: Six months. Extension is subject to continued need, availability of funds and satisfactory service.
 Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.
 A regular staff member can apply to this LDC post but will not be allowed to assume such post through secondment as he/she needs to leave his/her current post to accept LDC appointment.
EQUIVALENCY Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered ASSESSMENT METHOD
