Program Officer - AMIDEAST - Ramallah, Hebron, and Nablus


AMIDEAST, an international non-profit organization in the West Bank and Gaza, is seeking full-time qualified candidates for its USAID funded education program - the School Improvement Program (SIP).

SIP will provide support to private and public schools in marginalized areas of the West Bank.

The primary goals of the program are to improve access to quality education and mitigate challenges to youth development in marginalized areas of the West Bank.

AMIDEAST is recruiting for three Program Officers to be based, respectively, in its Ramallah, Hebron, and Nablus offices.

Program Officer

The Program Officer will provide support to the program’s Teacher Education, Community Engagement and Procurement activities in his or her relevant region of the West Bank (North, Center or South).

Responsibilities may include:
-Conducting regular outreach visits to schools in different locations covered by the regional office;
-Assisting project managers with conceptual design of program;
-Serving as a liaison for the program for teacher education, co- and extracurricular activities, and parent engagement, procurement activities and events;
-Coordinating with school principals and the Ministry of Education to submit purchase requests to SIP Procurement Department, based on items' description, quantities, estimated price and expected delivery date
-Supporting solicitation for and coordination with vendors;
-Coordinating with staff and consultants to facilitate needs assessments;
-Collecting data and documenting and reporting on major program activities; and
-Providing assistance to and support for SIP's major events as needed;
-Coordinate with relevant program staff at Ramallah office as needed to ensure the successful implementation of all program activities in schools;
-Providing support related to program financial and operational activities;
-Corresponding with schools and district offices of the Ministry of Education via phone, fax and email;
-Other duties as assigned.

Applicants should have the following credentials and experience:
-Bachelors degree, preferably in education, psychology, social sciences, humanities or a related field; Masters degree preferred
-5-7 years of administrative experience in project implementation;
-Experience working in schools or educational settings with youth;
-Fluency in Arabic and English;
-Strong English writing skills;
-Comfortable working with a team on a USAID-funded project;
-A self-starter, able to take the lead on individual initiatives;
-Able to travel widely throughout the West Bank;
-Advanced proficiency in Word and Excel mandatory;
-Ability to managed multiple administrative tasks with ease; and
-Valid driver's license.
