MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the ideal candidate:
 Monitors Mental Health Programme at the Area Level and assists Mental Health Staff in assessing the Programme weakness and strengths and in managing clients.
 Helps in integrating mental health into UNRWA services through fostering team spirit between Mental Health Counselors and other staff in Education. Health, and Relief and Social Services Programme.
 Conducts individual/group counseling and other intervention or awareness sessions in the context of modeling for the Mental Health Counselors and the Assistant Mental Heath Supervisors.
 Administers the Programme including staff movements and leaves at area level and ensures staff adherence to UNRWA and CMHP roles and regulations.
 Contributes to the preparation, implementation and evaluation of training activities within the Programme.
 Prepares monthly reports based on information and data provided by the Assistant Mental Health Supervisors and the Mental Health Counselors.
 Ensures the fulfillment of the work plan in accordance with the general objectives of the Programme and provides technical, administrative and logistical support necessary for the implementation of the different activities.
 Ensures the accuracy, maintenance, and the up-to-date database of mental health at the Area Level.
 Develops plans for quick crisis interventions, whenever needed.
 Liaises and monitors the interaction between UNRWA, Ministry of Health and other Mental Health key-players to ensure mutual productive relationships.
 Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
 A university degree in mental health, psychology, social science or other related field.
 At least four years experience in psychological/humanitarian projects with a development perspective including practical experience in mental health service provision such as counseling, therapy and/ or clinical practice.
 Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic.
 Ability to deal with people tactfully.
 Ability to work under pressure.
 Advanced communication skills.
 Excellent knowledge of MS Word, MS Power Point and basic skills in Excel.
 Knowledge of mental health database and research skills.
 Good understanding of biostatistics, and SPSS programme.
 Ability to supervise and train others.
 It is desirable to have experience in clinical mental health practice, counseling, and/ or psychotherapy.
 It is desirable to have a valid driving license.
 The incumbent will be required to travel frequently in UNRWA’s area of operation.
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
 Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary $1,433.50; plus a currency adjustment factor (present rate 5.89%).
 Contract Duration: Six months. Extension is subject to funds availability, continuous need and satisfactory performance.
 Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.
 A regular staff member can apply to this LDC post but will not be allowed to assume such post through secondment as he/she needs to leave his/her current post to accept LDC appointment.
EQUIVALENCY Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered ASSESSMENT METHOD
