Position: Driver 2 posts
Responsible to: Logistic Assistant
Location: Gaza City – Gaza Strip

THE ORGANIZATION
With over 30 years of experience, Handicap International (HI) is an independent and impartial aid organization, currently active in 60 countries, working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster. It works alongside people with disabilities (PwDs) and vulnerable populations, taking action and bearing witness in order to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights.
HI has been present in the Middle East since 1987 and currently operates in Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine, with a regional office based in Amman, Jordan, and field offices in each country. In Palestine, HI has been active since 1996 and works in both Gaza and West Bank, through several projects funded by the European Commission (EC), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg (MOFA Lux), the Canada Department of Foreign Affairs Trade and Development (DFATD), the French Development Agency (AFD), DFID, and Caritas Germany. The annual budget of the mission for 2014 is more than 1.5 million Euros, which is expected to substantially increase in 2015, and it employs more than 20 nationals and two international staff, distributed among 3 offices (East-Jerusalem, Ramallah and Gaza).

THE PROJECT
The project entitled "Explosive Remnants of War threat reduction in support to rubble removal and reconstruction in Gaza, Palestine” which will be implemented by HI and partners is planned for an initial duration of 2 months. Under the guidance and supervision of the logistic Assistant, the driver, based in Gaza will provide reliable and safe driving services ensuring high accuracy of work. The driver demonstrates a high sense of responsibility, courtesy.

Main Tasks will include :
The Driver is required to undertake the following duties as directed by the Logistic Assistant using the prescribed methods and procedures in line with the requirements of the Driver specifications:
-Drives HI employees to their appointments, field work sites, and various locations as per the scheduled route of transport.
-Operates assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous manner.
-Presents safety briefing to passengers (visitors) prior to each trip departure.
-Responsible of the travel and the vehicle fleet.
-Respect the rules governing the use of vehicle.
-Responsible of the maintenance and the checkup of the vehicles (tires especially…).
-Supervise the cleaning of the vehicle at least once a week.
-Maintains accurate, up-to-date records on Log book, customer transportation forms, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records that are requested from management.
-Control of levels: engine oil, cooling liquid, fuel, hydraulic brake fluid, windscreen washer water tire pressures – including the spare wheel.
-Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts
-Perform all other adapted work duties when required.


The Candidate profile
- Must have Secondary Education as minimum
- Driving License valid for at least 5 years.
- At least 2 years’ experience in driving duties with similar INGO’s
- Able to communicate in English language.
- Knowledge in mechanics and car maintenance.
- Knowledge in safety rules, and Gaza strip streets.
