Terre des hommes (Tdh) is a leading organization worldwide on child protection, which accumulates over 40 years of experience in the Palestinian context. Tdh aims at contributing to develop and improve child wellbeing and resilience, child protection systems and juvenile and gender justice.
Under the project funded by UNICEF, Terre des hommes (Tdh) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Child Protection Facilitator to join our team in the Gaza Strip. This role will primarily focus on supporting children and their caregivers through leading and supporting implementation of group activities. The Facilitator plays an instrumental role in contributing to the well-being of children and their caregivers through referrals to Lay Counsellors and/or Case Managers.
We are looking for a proactive individual with effective communication and facilitation skills to organize, and implement group activities for children and their caregivers with respect for Child Protection Minimum Standards and other qualitative guidance. The ideal candidate will ensure that these activities are safe, equitable, high-quality, accessible, timely, and efficient, responding effectively to the needs of children and their caregivers.
Specific Responsibilities / Context (Tasks)
- Lead awareness sessions on child protection (CP), positive parenting, family separation or other contextually relevant topics for caregivers and children, equipping them with essential knowledge and resources.
- Lead group recreational activities with children, with a psychosocial aim, ensuring implementation locations are suitable and safe, with respect for minimum standards and in line with project objectives.
- Maintain accurate and up to date attendance records for reporting, and proactively share information relating to challenges, constraints or otherwise to inform needs-based adjustment, lessons learned, or otherwise.
- Build and maintain partnerships with community leaders and relevant stakeholders to support the implementation of activities and encourage community participation
- Support identification and referral of children requiring individual support, with full respect for confidentiality, for follow up by Case Managers and/or Lay Counsellors, or for further referral to specialized services.
- Contribute to weekly and bi-weekly planning based on coordination with participants and communities, proactively informing of changes or challenges – including those relating to security.

- Know and adhere to institutional policies such as Safety and Security Policy, Safeguarding – including PSEA, Code of Conduct, Anti-Fraud/Corruption Policy, Prevention of the Financing of Criminal Activities Policies, Data Protection Policy (Palestine), and Whistle Blowing Policy; committing to the zero tolerance principle and mandatory reporting processes.
- Raises awareness on abuse and violence and the rights deriving therefrom, respecting the rights and dignity of children, members of the communities and our own Staff.
- Commits to reducing the risk of abuse and harm by developing a culture of open and informed leadership within the organization and in our work with children and the communities in which we intervene in.
Others
- Supports the leadership team to organize and facilitate, conferences, exchange of experience mission and field visits for external management staff and donor representatives.
- Any other duty as required by the line manager within the spirit of the responsibilities and general purpose of the role.
Needed qualification and competencies
This function requires the mastery of Personal, Social and Leadership Competencies (PSLC), Technical and Methodological Competencies (TMC) as well as Professional Competencies, in particular:
- Cooperates and contributes to achieving goals.
- Communicates in a clear, concise and responsible way.
- Shares knowledge, master’s the tools and applications both general and activity-specific based.
- Collects the necessary information regarding professional activities.
- Pays attention to the best practices and develops the professional practices related to the field of work or area of responsibility
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or Mental Health.
- At least 2 years’ experience in implementing community, recreational, and group activities.
- At least 1 year experience in programming focused on Child Protection and psychosocial support.
- Proven ability to engage with community leaders and members effectively.
- Willingness and ability to travel to Tdh office(s) and activity locations.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities to manage multiple tasks effectively.
