JOB SUMMARY
The Stretcher Bearer is responsible for helping, accompanying and transporting patients from a place to another within the health facility, according to the instruction from the medical team and following hygiene standards, in order to ensure patients’ safety.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation.

JOB SUMMARY
The Stretcher Bearer is responsible for helping, accompanying and transporting patients from a place to another within the health facility, according to the instruction from the medical team and following hygiene standards, in order to ensure patients’ safety.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Transport patients (e.g., from patient’s room to the operating theatre, from his bed to the x-ray room, from the consultation to his room, etc.), assisting and helping them at all times.
- Transport messages, stock items, or other materials around the hospital or premises when requested to do so.
- Assist nursing staff with basic patient needs (for example, lifting patients up, lying them down, bathing them, dressing them, changing bed linen or, if required, giving them their meals).
- Inform medical staff about any possible serious problem or complication during any shift (i.e., patients, equipment, etc.).
- Ensure safe transport, taking into consideration the state/conditions of the patient and the instructions given by nursing team or doctors.
- Keep the patients and families informed about the place they are taking the patient to.
- Follow the universal hygiene standards and the instructions of health professionals, always.
- Follow IMC code of conduct and adhere to IMC safeguarding regulations. Be kind and helpful to patients and their relatives/carers, while being respectful of cultural considerations.
- Assist IMC’s security personnel when called upon to do so.
- Ensure the disinfection of material used (stretcher, wheelchair, etc.).
- Assist in other tasks upon reasonable request from IMC managerial, medical, nursing and interdepartmental staff.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Literacy required.
- Knowledge of English language is desirable.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting heavy items as required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on safety, efficiency and well-being of the sick and injured.
