ESDC implements a wide range of development and humanitarian programs designed to empower communities, promote sustainable livelihoods, and strengthen resilience particularly in rural and marginalized areas. Its portfolio includes Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), cash assistance, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programming.
About the Project
ESDC, in partnership with Oxfam, is implementing the "Anticipatory Food Security Response for Vulnerable Households in Gaza." This rapid-response project aims to improve the food security and nutritional intake of 1,000 households affected by malnutrition. The intervention utilizes Value Vouchers to enable families to purchase fresh, high-nutrient food items from local vendors. ESDC is seeking a Nutrition Specialist to ensure the technical quality of targeting and nutritional impact.

ESDC is seeking a Nutrition Specialist to ensure the technical quality of targeting and nutritional impact.
- Coordination & Targeting:
- Lead the technical verification process of nominated households to confirm eligibility based on project nutrition criteria.
- Technical Guidance & Awareness:
- Provide guidance to beneficiaries on how to maximize the voucher value to purchase high-nutrient foods (fresh produce, proteins, dairy) available at vendor shops.
- Conduct rapid nutrition awareness sessions at distribution points for mothers and caregivers on dietary diversity and food hygiene.
- Monitoring & Quality Assurance:
- Support the field team in monitoring vendor shops to ensure the availability of nutritious food items agreed upon in the project.
- Assist the MEAL team during Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM) to analyze nutrition-related indicators (e.g., Food Consumption Score - FCS, Dietary Diversity Score).
- Monitor cases of malnutrition within the beneficiary pool and facilitate referrals to specialized medical services if deterioration is observed.
- Reporting:
- Ensure accurate documentation of nutrition data and prepare periodic technical reports on the nutritional status of the target group.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of experience in nutrition or humanitarian work.
- Knowledge of nutrition standards in emergency settings.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with vulnerable populations.
- Ability to work within a team and under pressure.
- Proficiency in using computers and preparing reports.

- Understanding of protection, confidentiality, and humanitarian principles.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
